We’re looking for a volunteer to do for MonoDevelop what the launchpad Banshee Team did for Banshee. That is, we’re looking for someone to maintain a PPA with the latest pre-2.0 snapshots for multiple versions of Ubuntu, as well as feeding fixes back into the released versions already in Ubuntu.

The ideal person will be working with the Mono Team within Debian and Ubuntu, as well as working with the upstream Mono and MonoDevelop teams. This includes forwarding patches, bugs, tests, and general feedback to everyone involved. Note that MonoDevelop 2.0 is not released, so this person should be familiar with typical upstream development processes and what it means to use prerelease software. We don’t need a nightly build bot, we need a person with a brain who is not just providing binaries but involved in improving MonoDevelop itself.

You’d probably also need to work with the MOTU team and/or the desktop team people. If you’re looking to eventually apply for MOTU, this could be a good step! meeby and directhex will be running a packaging session for Mono apps during this next Ubuntu Developer Week if you’re looking to sharpen your chops and ask questions.

If you’re interested drop me a note or find me or directhex on irc. If you’re deploying MD and want in on this to help test, please let me know as well.
