Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve posted some quickes, let’s get to work:
- The Ubuntu Global Bug Jam is this weekend! Sign up your Local Team today! (Where are you Ohio?)
- Unfortunately I won’t be able to participate in the GBJ, I’ll be on a plane to Mar Del Plata to spend some time with our Debian friends at DebConf 8.
- It’s not too late to join identi.ca. Feel free to follow me, (I’m @jorge). I try to post Ubuntu related things during the day. You can also check out who I follow if you want to read entries from people throughout the Ubuntu and OSS communities.
- @evan does an excellent job keeping the identi.ca community informed of what’s going on in laconica and identi.ca itself – a real welcome change from other, well known, less reliable microblogging services. Check out his video here for more details.
- Ars Technica’s Ryan Paul has been working on Gwibber, which is a client for microblogging services. The current trunk branch is rather boring, but the webkit branch has some sexiness in it. Mike Basinger has posted a nice cheat sheet to get you started.
- Ryan however has been busy covering Linuxworld – it would be nice if someone where to start packaging up Gwibber in a PPA. #gwibber on irc.arstechnica.com for more information.
- Barton George from Sun points out that OpenJDK6 is now in main for Intrepid. Now is the time to join the Ubuntu Java Team. Thanks go out to everyone involved in the OpenJDK and IcedTea projects.
- Albums I’m listening to with great frequency recently: Disturbed’s Indestructible and Tool’s 10,000 Days
- Of course, everyone knows that Banshee 1.2 is out. Jump up, jump and get down!
- Kirkland is not just the name of the house brand at Costco, on the side he also works on encrypted private directories.
- Thanks for the responses to Arroz con Pollo, it helped me find Open Source Food.
- … and lastly, don’t forget to snag your creatively inclined friends to participate in the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase.
Wow, that’s a bunch of quickies!
Ohio isn’t technically participating in the “official” GBJ. Everyone seems rather scattered at the moment and we’re trying to plan out early for OLF. I’ll see if I can get some Ohioans together this weekend, at least in IRC. Hopefully we’ll be able to get a live-action jam going in the near future.
